The Nelson Kennels Family
(Left) Grandpa Norm Nelson built the facilities in 1969 and quickly rose to the top as one of the best bird dog trainers in the nation. His daughter Linda Azevedo (Center) continues the family business along with her son, Scott Azevedo (Right).
History
Nelson Kennels is a third generation dog training and boarding business located in Los Banos, California. Grandpa Norm Nelson established the business in 1969. He built the kennels, grooming shop, bird coops, barn, stalls, and pasture with his family. He taught his daughter Linda Azevedo and grandson Scott Azevedo how to train and handle dogs. They specialize in training pointing breeds for the hunting sport of "field trialing".
Directions to the Kennels
- Set your GPS to 13680 Volta Road, Los Banos, California 93635
- From I-5, exit heading East towards Los Banos on Highway 152
- After 3 miles turn left onto Volta Road (there will be a left turn lane)
- After 3 miles, continue past the 13680 Volta Road address (this is the house)
- Turn right onto Grand Ave
- Nelson Kennels office is on the right, look for our green gates. If you get to the kennels but no one is at the front desk that means we are working in the back! Honk your car horn three times and we will come open the gate for you.
